PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The project consists of widening Interstate 81 to add one lane in each direction adjacent to the City of Staunton. The project has differing lengths NB and SB however, the overall project termini would be from MM 221.45 to MM 225.6 for a project length of 4.18 miles. Widening will occur primarily towards the median, though limited work to the outside will be necessary for shoulder strengthening (maintenance of traffic) and upgrading guardrail to current standards. Five bridges will be widened/rehabilitated with the project.
