Kannapolis, NC – 2023 Resurfacing Project

City of Kannapolis 2023 Resurfacing Project- Street improvements of Two (2) named streets (or part thereof) totaling approximately 1,800 LF of pavement. The work shall consist of milling existing asphalt, densifying existing base, mat coat, paving, and pavement markings or other work necessary or as directed by the Director of Engineering.

Bidders are advised that the City of Kannapolis has established a goal of 10 percent (10%) minority business enterprises as mandated by GS 136-28.4. The bidder shall identify in the bid documents the minority business participation it will use on the project. Forms are included in the bid documents for this purpose.

All prime contractors bidding must be pre-qualified as “prequalified bidder” or “subcontractor” by the NCDOT in order to be considered for contract award. All subcontractors must also be pre-qualified as “prequalified bidder” or “subcontractor” by the NCDOT prior to beginning work on the project. Contractors must be licensed contractors with either “Highway” or “Unclassified” license in the State of North Carolina prior to being awarded this contract. All Subcontractors must also be licensed contractors in the State of North Carolina if in accordance with NC General Statue the work subcontracted required licensure.

Bids will be received on a unit price basis.

Bid security in an amount of 5% of the Bidder’s maximum Bid must accompany each Bid.

The Successful Bidder will be required to furnish a Construction Performance Bond and a Construction Payment Bond as security for the faithful performance and the payment of all bills and obligations arising from the performance of the Contract.

Contractor and all Subcontractors will be required to conform to the labor standards employment requirements set forth in the Contract Documents.

North Carolina Department of Transportation Standard Specifications for Roads and Structures, dated January 2018, by reference, shall be used on this project.

Owner reserves the right to reject any or all Bids, including without limitation the rights to reject any or all nonconforming, non-responsive, unbalanced, or conditional Bids, and will award to lowest responsible Bidder taking into consideration quality, performance, and time specified in Bid Form for performance of Work. Owner also reserves the right to waive informalities.

If the Contract is to be awarded, Owner will give the Successful Bidder a Notice of Award within the number of days set forth in the Bid Form for acceptance of the Bid.
