Wake County Public School System/ Apex Friendship High School Stadium Repair

Bids will be received until 2:00 PM EST on February 23, 2023, by Wake County Public School System. Bidders, or their representative, and other interested persons may be present at the opening of proposals.
The project consists of the following major items for the existing track improvements:

- Demolition/removal of existing concrete pavement/slab to address setting issues behind the stadium bleachers at the football stadium.
- Installation of new concrete pavement/slab to re-direct runoff away from the existing bleachers and tie in the existing field house downspouts in order to correct flow characteristics for safety concerns.
- Minor earth grading and installation of Bermuda sod along the existing fence to address erosion issues as indicated.
- Installation of a new netting system for the existing lacrosse field as shown.
- Miscellaneous signage as shown on the drawings.

Bidding Documents include this Invitation to Bid, and the following attached forms: Form of Proposal, sample contract, Sales Tax Report, School Access Requirements, MBE forms, Board of Education Policies. The bidding documents also include the plans and specifications, and any Addenda issued prior to receipt of bids. All requirements and obligations of the Bidding Documents are hereby incorporated by reference into the Contract Documents and are binding on the Successful Bidder upon award of the contract.
Each Bidder by submitting his Bid represents that he has read and understands that Bidding Documents and his Bid is made in accordance therewith; and Bidder agrees to be bound by the terms and requirements set forth in the Bidding and Contract Documents; that he has visited the site, has familiarized himself with the local conditions under which the Work is to be performed herein, and has correlated his observations with the requirements of the proposed Contract Documents.
The Schedule for the project shall be as follows:
February 14, 2023 Pre-Bid Conference, 10:00 AM @ AFHS stadium site
February 23, 2023 Receive Bids @ 111 Corning Road, Suite 190, Cary, NC
February 24, 2023 Notice of intent to Award
Once WCPSS has issued the contract, the Contractor has 14 calendar days to return the
signed contract with supporting documents to WCPSS.
June 1, 2023 Notice to Proceed
June 12, 2023 Contractor to Begin work
July 14, 2023 Substantial Completion
July 28, 2023 Final Completion
June 28, 2024 Eleven Month Warranty Inspection

Complete Bidding Documents (Project plans & manual) may be obtained from Dewberry Engineers Inc., 2610 Wycliff Road, Raleigh, Suite 410, Raleigh, NC 27607 or 919.9939 during normal office hours beginning 8:00 AM Monday, February 21, 2022. Requests for electronic plans shall be sent to Charles P. Ristimaki via e-mail at: [email protected]. If hard copies are desired – Refundable plan deposit: $50.00 – made payable to Wake County Public School System.

Bidders will be required to show evidence that they are licensed to perform the work in the Bidding Documents as required by North Carolina General Statute, Chapter 87 and the Instructions to Bidders.
The Wake County Public School System reserves the right to reject any and all bids, waive informalities and irregularities in bidding and to accept bids which are considered to be in the best interest of the School System. The Wake County Public School System also reserves the right to require any bidder to submit information needed to determine if said bidder is responsible within the meaning of N.C. Gen. Stat. 143-129.
Bid Security in the amount of five percent (5%) of the Bid must accompany each Bid and shall be subject to the conditions provided in the Instructions to Bidders.
