RFQ for City of Raleigh Railroad Quiet Zone Study
The City of Raleigh is seeking one or more qualified firm(s) with which to contract for the following services: Perform an engineering study describing the steps necessary to implement railroad quiet zone/zones in the City of Raleigh. Scope of work includes providing recommendations for supplemental safety measures (SSMs) including cost, time, and feasibility with consideration of planned infrastructure projects. The quiet zones must follow the standards set forth in 49 CFR Part 222 – Use of Locomotive Horns at Public Highway-Rail Grade Crossings.
The study should evaluate two study areas for quiet zones:
1. Downtown Raleigh, which is the area enclosed by Peace Street to the North,
East Street to the East, Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard to the South, and
Boylan Street to the West.
2. The entire city limits of Raleigh.
Important Dates:
Deadline for written questions is April 22, 2024. Proposal due date and time is May 1, 2024 at 4:00 pm.
